Old Forge sits at the base of the Adirondacks and is your gateway to all that the park has to offer. Whether you seek the peace and tranquility of the lakes and mountains or you enjoy adventure and thrill, Old Forge has something for everyone. The hamlet of Old Forge along with McKeever, Thendara, Okara Lakes, Eagle Bay, Big Moose, Stillwater and Beaver River, are nestled in the town of Webb, which is the largest township in New York State. From here, you can explore the Central Adirondack region and all of the Adirondack Park. It is home to many great hiking and mountain biking trails for people of all levels.
Those who love the water will have plenty of opportunity to explore the Fulton Chain of Lakes or spend the day kayaking or canoeing in the Moose River. In the wintertime, snowmobilers enjoy the hundreds of miles of groomed trails and snow from early December until March. If you enjoy skiing, Mccauley Mountain offers downhill slopes as well as many cross country trails and a great lodge to share a drink by the fireplace on a cold winter’s night. Old Forge is also conveniently located just a short drive to other popular ski mountains such as Gore Mountain, Whiteface Mountain and Killington. And if the weather doesn’t cooperate and you’re stuck inside, no worries, because the historic Strand Theatre has movies on play. And if movies aren’t your thing, go around town and visit the Historical Society, The View Art Center or visit many unique local shops and eateries. No matter what you are looking to do in your Adirondack Lifestyle, Old Forge has something for everyone.
